Certifications

The EU organic label is the official organic label of the European Union. It guarantees that at least 95% of the ingredients of agricultural origin come from certified organic cultivation and that production complies with EU organic regulations. Ingredients that are not available in organic quality but are permitted under organic regulations account for well under 5% of the total quantity in chocolate dragées. 

The Fairtrade Cocoa label is a social label that aims to ensure cocoa farmers receive living wages, better working and living conditions, and long-term partnerships. The same criteria apply to the cultivation and trade of cocoa in the Fairtrade Cocoa Program as to other Fairtrade products.

The IFS Food Standard is a standard recognized by the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) for auditing food manufacturers. The focus here is on food safety and the quality of processes and products. The standard applies to food processors as well as to companies that package unpackaged food.

The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a global initiative involving multiple stakeholders that focuses on certified sustainable oil palm products. RSPO members and participants in its activities come from a wide range of sectors and include plantations, manufacturers, and retailers, environmental organizations, and social NGOs from many countries that produce or use oil palm products. The RSPO's main goal is to “promote the cultivation and use of sustainable palm oil through cooperation within the supply chain and through open dialogue between stakeholders.” Membership information can be found at www.rspo.org.
